Songs I’m Listening To (12/15/2021)

The streak shall never stop. This one right here isn’t going to be as in-depth simply due to the fact that my favorite article to write is coming soon. My “favorite albums of the year” article is coming right around the corner. I’ve listed all the albums that I’ve listened to this year and I am ready to get to ranking. This is now the 10th month in a row of the “songs I’m listening to” series. Let’s get into it.

New Video: NBA Youngboy - Heart & Soul / Alligator Walk

1. YoungBoy Never Broke Again – Heart & Soul, 2. YoungBoy Never Broke Again – Alligator Walk

The YouTube king’s return from his latest jail stint was obviously a hit. The video was released only 12 days ago and already has over 17 million views. The video contained both “Heart & Soul” and “Alligator Walk” as singles to his collaboration project with Birdman called, “From The Bayou”. Respectfully, no one on earth wants to hear Birdman rap in 2021 so I only listened to the songs that YB himself was on. “Heart & Soul” was an incredible song taking a look into YoungBoy’s recent thoughts about where he is in life and his responsibilities.

Kentrell, you got to man up, you done had all these kids

I’m like, “Kentrell, you got to stand up, it’s your time, I see it”

After the calm reflecting track that is “Heart & Soul” YoungBoy comes in with the crazy energy that he is known for with “Alligator Walk”. This just showcases his true versatility of how he can change the pace in his music. I’ve been listening to both of these every day since they dropped and am excited to see what Sir Kentrell has next in the vault.

Nardo Wick - YouTube

3. Nardo Wick – Wicked Freestyle

Not really much to say besides that this dude is extremely talented. He has the ability to make this a very long career if he keeps doing things right. Already secured features from Lil Durk, Future, G Herbo & 21 Savage on his first ever project. “Who is Nardo Wick?” is a project filled with energy and “Wicked Freestyle” was the highlight for me.

4. A Boogie wit da Hoodie – Man in the Mirror

Even though he hasn’t truly hit the same since he dropped “Hoodie Szn”, there are some hits on A Boogie’s newest project. “B4 AVA” just dropped last Friday and “Man in the Mirror” has been the highlight so far. Just don’t know if he’s made a song that’s as hard as “Savage” since he dropped it.

Alone At Prom - Album by Tory Lanez | Spotify

5. Tory Lanez – The Color Violet 6. Tory Lanez – Lavender Sunflower

It is very possible that Tory Lanez dropped two top 15 albums in my rankings this year. Ever since “Alone At Prom” dropped I’ve been listening constantly. I know I’ve been talking about versatility a lot lately, but it’s so important in an artists catalog nowadays. This man made an R&B and an 80’s album within the span of 10 months. And they are both great pieces of work. You can’t deny that this man is talented. Simple.

Quality Control - Quality Control: Control The Streets Volume 2 [2 CD] - Amazon.com Music

7. Takeoff – Magellanic

Everyone who knows me personally knows that Takeoff is my favorite member of Migos. It’s been that way since probably 2014 when I first heard either “Fight Night” or “Cross The Country“. The man is undoubtedly talented, and it makes me very happy to see him get the recognition he deserves. Culture III will definitely have a spot in my “favorite albums of the year” article.

8. J Cole – Window Pain (Outro)

No need for much explanation here. One of my favorite J Cole songs and it’s on my favorite J Cole album of all time. This album needs more appreciation from people outside of J Cole’s fanbase, and that is a certified fact.

Meek Mill Releases 'Expensive Pain' f/ Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, and More | Complex

9. Meek Mill – Love Money 10. Meek Mill – Cold Hearted III

My favorite rapper of all time definitely did not miss at all on this project. Expect it to be quite high on my rankings.

Ladies and gentlemen we have finally made it to the last “songs I’m listening to” article of 2021. What a journey it has been. Time is absolutely flying by. Always crazy to sit down and think, “where will be in December of next year?” We live in a world with a whole bunch of unexpected things going on. The one thing that stays constant, is the music. The next two music articles coming from me will be my “Favorite Albums of the Year” and “Top 50 songs of the Year”. One of my favorite times of the year to write. Love you all. This is YSN, until next time, signing out.
