We are in for a great summer of music

2021 was an incredible year for music. We had Drake and Kanye dropping albums less than a week apart, Meek Mill dropped after a three year wait and Lil Baby & Lil Durk dropped one of my favorite collaboration albums of all time. After a fast start to the year with both Gunna and The Weeknd releasing projects, Lil Durk dropped arguably the album of the year and Pusha T delivered “It’s Almost Dry” after almost a four year wait. We are now going into the most important stretch of music releases of the year, right before summer. Let’s get into what we know is coming.

Chris Brown and Lil Baby Announce Joint 'One of Them Ones' Tour

Chris Brown and Lil Baby are going on tour

Chris Brown and Lil Baby are going to be touring the country this summer. The “One of Them Ones” tour was announced on Tuesday, April 26th to the internet’s surprise. This is big due to the fact that both artists are planning on dropping albums and the start date of this tour (July 15th) is telling to when they will both drop their projects. Breezy recently dropped both “Iffy” and “WE (Warm Embrace)” as lead singles for his next album named after his nickname. Lil Baby dropped two singles himself three weeks ago along with music videos titled “In A Minute” and “Right On“. Baby is also rumored to be dropping his next project soon. Whether it will be the long-awaited “Lamborghini Boys” or not is yet to be determined.

Jack Harlow is dropping his second studio album “Come Home the Kids Miss You”

After the great success of his debut album, “That’s What They All Say”, Jack Harlow is now gearing up to drop his second album “Come Home the Kids Miss You”. Harlow is on a crazy run and his fanbase is not showing any signs of getting smaller. Harlow has released two big singles in preparation for the album titled, “Nail Tech” and “First Class“. The latter sampled Fergie’s “Glamorous” and went viral before its release just off the power of the snippet. The song was so popular it debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It was the first hip-hop song of 2022 to reach the top spot on the charts. The 24-year-old from Louisville has been steadily on the rise, and a rumored Drake feature on his album can catapult him to even higher levels. “Come Home the Kids Miss You” will be dropping on May 6th.

Future Announces New Album 'I Never Liked You' | Rap-Up

Future is dropping his ninth studio album “I NEVER LIKED YOU”

All we know about this album so far is the release date and that is this Friday, April 29th. The only possible “single” for this project is “Worst Day” which he dropped this past February. I’m excited to see the rest of the features after Future tweeted that Kanye is confirmed apart of this album.

Kylie Jenner's baby daddy Travis Scott ripped as he teases music comeback with Utopia billboard after Astroworld tragedy

Travis Scott continues to tease “UTOPIA”

This August will make it four years since the release of Travis Scott’s last solo album, “Astroworld”. After last years tragedy at his hometown festival, the Texas rapper has been in and out of the social media realm not really making it clear to his fans when his next project will drop. I think that the album is coming in late summer/early fall, but who even knows at this point.

Kendrick Lamar is back.

“Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” will be Kendrick Lamar’s fifth studio album.

When it releases on May 13th, it will have been 1,855 days (just over five years) since Kendrick dropped “DAMN.”.

I’m assuming that we’ll at least get a single before the release, but knowing Kendrick and his rollout process, nothing is guaranteed.

Kendrick is also dropping this project on the day of my graduation so that is a massive W.

Albums that I want before the year is over.

  1. Vory
  2. Giveon
  3. Bryson Tiller
  4. The Kid LAROI

Two of those four are already confirmed (Vory & Laroi) so it’s only a matter of time for the other two. This is going to be a great summer. This is YSN, until next time, signing out.
