Five things to take from Week 7

Tonight the New England Patriots are playing primetime football. Inject it into my veins. You know what you can also inject in my veins? Saquon Barkley being officially back, Ousmane Dembele putting on a clinic and a Darwin Núñez brace against Ajax on Wednesday. I absolutely love it. However, this is about the NFL. Let’s get into it.

1. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are both 3-4

This is weird. Both quarterbacks that will go down as legends in this game, both quarterbacks that contemplated retirement this past offseason and both quarterbacks have now lost to Taylor Heinicke in their careers. I honestly don’t know what’s going on with both of these teams. Brady and the Buccaneers lost to THE PANTHERS. THE 1-5 PANTHERS WHO STARTED PJ WALKER AT QUARTERBACK AND THEY DIDN’T SCORE A SINGLE TOUCHDOWN.

My apologies for getting loud I just couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that score. I’m officially pressing the panic button in Tampa Bay. As for Aaron Rodgers, it just looks like he is not enjoying himself right now. Three losses in a row to the Giants, Jets and Commanders is not a good look. And next weeks game? Taking a trip to Buffalo on Sunday Night football. We are looking at a possible 3-5 start for the cheeseheads, especially more likely because the Bills are coming off a bye week. Both Brady and Rodgers are very good at their jobs, but it’s going to take a lot for them to steer their teams back in the right direction.

2. DeAndre Hopkins is still that guy

First game back after a six-game suspension.

10 catches for 103 yards and the win.

Light work.

I still think D Hop is the best receiver in the NFL and hopefully he keeps on playing like this so that the Cardinals can get back on track. As a Kyler fan and someone who has both Hopkins and Murray on my fantasy team, I want the Cardinals to get back to the playoffs.

They have a VERY tough stretch of games coming up as they will be playing the Vikings, Seahawks, Rams and 49ers. This is a make or break year for Kliff Kingsbury. Can he handle the pressure and coach this team to another playoff berth? We’ll have to wait and see.

3. Josh Jacobs is going crazy

While the Raiders are only 2-4, Josh Jacobs has risen to another level these past three games.

After the Raiders declined his fifth-year option in the offseason, Jacobs has been playing like a mad man. Like just look at this truck stick.

Despite being 2-4, the Raiders have a strong chance to turn their season around with this upcoming stretch of games. They start by playing the Saints in New Orleans, then the Jags, Colts, Broncos and Seahawks. It’s easier said than done obviously, but these are all winnable games for Josh McDaniels & Co. We’ll see how it turns out for the boys in Vegas.

4. Kenneth Walker III is very good at football

Make that three games in a row with a touchdown for the rookie from Michigan State. Kenneth Walker III was a baller at MSU and it looks like he hasn’t had any trouble adjusting to playing on Sunday’s. After Rashaad Penny went down with a season-ending injury, Walker has stepped in and complemented the offense perfectly. Yesterday was his best game as a pro, rushing for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. His elusiveness with the ball in his hands and his ability to always maintain a low center of gravity while running is truly impressive. Somehow, someway the Seattle Seahawks are in sole possession of first place in the NFC West and Walker is a big part of that. After an injury to D.K. Metcalf, I think Walker will just become an even bigger part of the offense now.

5. A formal apology to the Kansas City Chiefs

Dear Kansas City Chiefs,

I would like to apologize for my beginning of the season predictions. I thought the losses of both Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu would hurt you guys way more. I thought that defenses would be able to key in on Travis Kelce a lot more and hold him to less yards and touchdowns. Clearly I was wrong. In the words of the late Dennis Green.

“They are who we thought they were!”

Good luck for the rest of the year, not that you’ll really need it. I’m just happy that you aren’t playing my Patriots in the regular season.

May God bless the New England Patriots tonight. Let me see two turnovers on defense and some more Tyquan Thornton x Rhamondre Stevenson touchdowns. Prayers up for all Jets fans around the world, you hate to see Breece Hall go down for the year. This is YSN, until next time, signing out.
