So let me break it down for you. First, I want to just say that I’ve been slacking with articles due to two main reasons. School and more school. However, I do want to give an update on what is to come for this website and my podcast. So lets go *Zohan voice*.
1. Top 40 (Or 50) Albums Of The Year
I will be going back to my original YSN Music roots and will be ranking my favorite albums this year. I will be going to California in 10 days for vacation and thanks to my wonderful girlfriend (shoutout Valeria) I will have an actual great quality mic and will be able to record these podcasts for y’all. I’ve been doing this since 2017 and I would love to keep this going. I might be uploading the podcasts to either youtube or apple podcasts. If I figure out how to put them on Spotify I might do that as well. I’m already started some of my rankings so this is very exciting for me. I’m going to be listing the albums and naming two or three of my favorite songs from each album.
2. CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP/BOWL SEASON
Now every single one of us know that college football is a superior sport. The passion for your university, the trash talk, and the quadruple overtime are just simply better then watching the Bengals play the Titans. Just straight facts.
For example, after LSU walked into to Tuscaloosa and Joe Burrow laid the smackdown on the Crimson Tide, LSU players went to the Alabama recruits that were visiting the game to tell them to come to LSU. And that’s not even the coldest part. Right after they finished doing it the human fireball known as Nick Saban walked right by them with his head down in defeat. Cold blooded shit right there. And #81 on LSU is Thaddeus Moss. Moss made an absolutely ridiculous catch that game reminiscent of someone with the same last name. *Cough, cough* Randy Moss, one of the greatest football players of all time. ANYWAYS, this weekend is Championship Weekend. Here are some of the big matchups.
B1G 10 Championship: #1 Ohio State vs. #8 Wisconsin
Last time these two teams played Chase Young had his, “this guy is a top-3 draft pick” moment after sacking Wisconsin quarterback Jack Coan four times. The Buckeyes didn’t let the Badgers score until the third quarter going on to win 38-7 in Columbus. This time they are playing at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and the result is not going to be any different. After seeing what the freight train known as J.K. Dobbins did to Michigan last Saturday, I say the Buckeyes drop a 40 piece on Wisconsin’s head. 31 carries, 211 yards, and 4 TDs. Enough said.
Prediction: Ohio State 42 Wisconsin 10
SEC Championship: #2 LSU vs #4 Georgia
In twelve games Joe Burrow has 44 TDs, 4366 yards, and 78.3 completion percentage. He has faced Auburn, Alabama, Texas, Florida, and Texas A&M. Not an easy schedule at all. With weapons on the offense like receiver Ja’Marr Chase, receiver Justin Jefferson, and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire the LSU offense isn’t stopping for anybody. Their secondary consists of top prospects Grant Delpit and Kristan Fulton while K’Lavon Chaisson anchors the front seven. With Coach O at the helm, all I can envision is a Joe Burrow revenge game against Ohio State for the national championship. And I am READY for it.
Prediction: LSU 33 Georgia 21
Big 12 Championship: #6 Oklahoma vs. #7 Baylor
The last time these two teams played they gave us a classic. And a reminder of the Falcons blowing a 28-3 lead to the Patriots in the 2017 Super Bowl. If it weren’t for a fluke lose to Kansas State on the road, Oklahoma would be challenging for that #1 spot right now. Jalen Hurts has been lights out this year throwing 31 TDs for 3347 yards while rushing for 1217 more yards. Now everyone knows Hurts and star receiver CeeDee Lamb, but the Sooners have some studs on defense as well. Defensive tackle Neville Gallimore is a run-stopping beast at 6’2″ 301 lbs, who can run a sub-4.8 40 yard dash. Insane. Linebacker Kenneth Murray is another athletic freak who has 13 TFLs and 3 sacks for the Sooners. With Lincoln Riley calling the plays and everyone healthy, I trust Oklahoma to win this game in Dallas.
Prediction: Oklahoma 47 Baylor 34 (sounds like a Big 12 Game)
ACC Championship: #3 Clemson vs #23 Virginia
Virginia won the ACC Coastal division for the first time in school history. The Cavaliers come in to this game with a 9-3 record led by quarterback Bryce Perkins and receiver Hasise Dubois. However, they are playing the defending champions and they are not going to back down. After a rather slow start, quarterback Trevor Lawerence has thrown for 30 TDs, 8 INTs, and 2870 yards to lead the Tigers to another undefeated regular season. He’s definitely had some major help from star running back Travis Etienne and receiver Tee Higgins. Etienne has just been named ACC Player of the Year for the second year in a row, the first Clemson player to do that since 1978. Etienne has ran for 1386 yards and 16 TDS while Higgins has 900 receiving yards and 10 TDs. The offense is too powerful for the Cavalier’s defense, especially with cornerback Bryce Hall still sidelined with an ankle injury. As for the Clemson defense, it only gets better. Linebacker Isiah Simmons was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Year while leading the team in sacks (7), forced fumbles (2), and tackles for loss (14.5). Simmons is projected to be a top-15 draft pick and is an absolute freak of an athlete. Bottom line is that UVA have not played anyone with this level of talent this year. Congratulations to Virginia for a great season, but they need to understand that they just need to stay healthy for their bowl game.
Prediction: Clemson 44 Virginia 10
PAC-12 Championship: #5 Utah vs. #13 Oregon
Utah has sneakily made its way to the #6 spot, at least for me. Led by running back Zack Moss, the Utes have found themselves playing for a possible spot in the College Football Playoff. If it weren’t for one loss by seven to USC, the Utes would be in that top four right now. Moss is the team’s workhorse running for 1246 yards and 15 TDs while quarterback Tyler Huntley has thrown 16 TDs and 2 INTs on the year. The Utes are going to face a competitive Oregon team who is led by quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert, who grew up 10 minutes from Oregons campus, has thrown for 31 TDs and 5 INTs this season. He is projected to be a lock in the first round of next years draft and has been playing up to that standard. This will definitely be a competitive matchup, but I’m going to go with the team that’s on an eight game winning streak. And that’s the Utah Utes.
Prediction: Utah 39 Oregon 30
****UPDATE****
The Cowboys really lost to Mitch Trubisky and the Bears. How is Jason Garrett still.a head coach? Jerry Jones needs to get coked up again and just fire everyone. Seriously though, it’s crazy is that the Cowboys/girls are 6-7 but are still the favorites to win the NFC East. Unlessss #HTTR?? This is why I love football. I’ll most likely see you guys again in a week and a half when finals are over. YSN Out.
