Ladies and gentlemen, I am finally writing a full-length article of this series. The release of “UTOPIA” has finally given me the inspiration to actually write about the songs I’m playing in my car and on my cellular device. Let’s get into it.
1. Yeat – Stayëd tha Same
That Mariah Carey x Yeat “Stayëd the Same x We Belong Together” remix inspired this for sure. I’ve been listening to Yeat since he first blew up in 2020, but somehow this song got away from me. Catch me with the windows down screaming…
2. Key Glock – No Hook
You can never go wrong with some Key Glock in the whip. And especially “No Hook” which is my favorite song off of the deluxe “Glockama 2”. I have a very strong feeling “Glockama 2” will make my album of the year article at the end of the year. Man I just wish Dolph would’ve still been here.
“Blue diamond chain on me, this b**** match the ocean”
3. Lil Tecca – 500lbs
I swear every summer this man Tecca come out with a crazy hit that catches fire on all socials. Before Travis dropped, this was on replay every day.
“I’m trustin’ nothin’ I’m told, honestly. I’m trustin’ half what I’m shown”
4. Lil Uzi Vert – Patience ft. Don Toliver, 5. Lil Uzi Vert – Crush Em, 6. Lil Uzi Vert – Pluto to Mars
This album, while it did some outlandish stuff (which I honestly liked), had some underrated jewels. And these three songs have been the three that I’ve been listening to the most. That intro on “Crush Em” just makes you want to commit felonies. I’ll be in the car screaming…
“Swervin’ and smashin’ all over the place just like I got road rage”
Also, a PSA, Don Toliver has the best voice in rap right now. This man is incapable of missing on a track. His background vocals throughout the track is just magical. Thank you Lil Uzi Vert & thank you Don Toliver.
7. Stormzy & RAYE – The Weekend
The definition of a summer hit. Stormzy needs to get more recognition over here in the States. His last album was incredible and this song is just a sign that he is not slowing down anytime soon.
“What? You know RAYE?” “Yeah, man, we’re from the same ends”
8. Central Cee & Drake – On The Radar Freestyle
Cench wasn’t lying when he went on LA Leakers and said “they say I’m the one that can bridge the gap”.
Both of them killed their verses on here and I can’t wait until we get some more collaborations from the two in the future.
“If it’s beef, I’ll get that shaved for bread and grease like I’m making giros, or I’m making gyros”
9. Fridayy – When It Comes To You
Everyone needs to pay attention to Fridayy ASAP. Now with his XXL Freshman List appearance more eyes will be on him, but I need people to listen to his last project, “Lost In Melody“. There’s a reason why he keeps getting on songs & albums with these big-time artists. Make sure y’all locking in.
“I won’t waste my time when it comes to you”
10. EVERYTHING FROM UTOPIA
I haven’t stopped listening to this album since the second it dropped. A full review will be coming soon.
It’s been a long time since I’ve written one of these at a full length. I miss getting back into my writing zone, now I fear it is time. This is YSN, until next time, signing out.
