Five things to take from Week 12

Five things to take from Week 12

I love football. Both versions of it actually. I love football and I also love football. It’s like Josh Allen beating Josh Allen last year. You don’t know which one I’m talking about in order but that’s the beauty of it isn’t it. However, we are here to talk football aren’t we (I know I’m doing the most by the way)? Let’s get into it.

1. How was this not a catch?

I mean just take a quick glance. Look at his hand clearly being under the ball. Nonetheless, the Patriots are now back to being a .500 team as they fell to the Vikings on Thursday night 33-26. Mac Jones, after playing like Ryan Leaf for the past couple weeks, had his best of game of his career throwing for 382 yards (career-high) and two touchdowns with no interceptions. This was definitely a game that could’ve been won by Belichick & Co. but costly penalties and other mental mistakes eventually cost us in the end. It’s not going to get any easier for this team as they will face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills twice in the next three weeks. As for the Vikings, they will be taking on the New York Jets next week. Who will be under center for the Jets, that’s yet to be determined.

*It better be Mike White*

2. The writing is on the wall for Kliff Kingsbury in Arizona

Four seasons and only one winning season (which resulted in a wild-card playoff loss). This is not a recipe for success here in Arizona. The Cardinals front office already made their choice between Kyler and Kingsbury when they gave Kyler the big contract, so with the Cardinals currently sitting at 4-8, it seems to me that Kingsbury is on the way out. On a positive note, since his return DeAndre Hopkins has only had one game under 87 receiving yards. This man is an absolute dog and is still one of the best wideouts in the league, if not the best. The Cardinals are heading into their bye week this week and then will play the Patriots on Monday night.

3. We got our annual Mike White game

315 yards, three touchdowns and no picks.

Ladies and gentlemen… Mike White.

Who knows how he does it, but Mike White has done it again. The Jets are currently sitting at 7-4 going into next week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Will White be the starter again? We’ll have to wait and see.

4. The Bengals are looking like their back to their best

Winning five of six is usually a good way to improve the locker room morale. Doing it against a solid Titans team without both Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Mixon is even better. The Bengals seem to be officially back to their form from last year and it’s in big part to their superstar quarterback stepping up. Burrow has thrown 14 touchdowns during this six-game stretch for Cincy. Despite this recent success, the Bengals have arguably the hardest final stretch of games in the NFL.

  1. vs. Chiefs
  2. vs. Browns
  3. at Buccaneers
  4. at Patriots
  5. vs. Bills
  6. vs. Ravens

These last six games will show what type of team Zac Taylor’s men are. It’s a long road to get back to the Super Bowl and the most difficult part of it is yet to come.

5. Josh Jacobs wants his money

33 carries for 229 yards and two touchdowns (including the 86-yard game-winner in OT). After getting his fifth-year option declined by the Raiders in the offseason, Josh Jacobs has been on an absolute tear this year. The former Alabama running back currently has 1,159 rushing yards (first in the league) and nine rushing touchdowns (fourth in the league). One of the true bright spots for this Raiders team that started off the season terribly, but is showing some heart towards the last weeks of the year.

Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen. This has been another week of NFL football. A lot to unpack this week. Are the Niners the real deal? Is Sean McVay officially going to become an analyst after getting rocked by his own player? Why didn’t Jeff Saturday call timeout? These are the questions that us football fans love to talk about. And we get to find out the answers to those questions very soon. This is YSN, until next time, signing out.
