Five things to take from Week 10

Five things to take from Week 10

I understand that the NFL is in full swing, but this is not the football that I am currently excited about right now. Maybe it is because the Patriots were on a bye or maybe it’s because my fantasy team had its worst week of the year. Despite this, the YSN train keeps on chugging no matter what. Let’s get into it.

1. Justin Fields is a special player

After finally being freed of the disease known as Matt Nagyitis, Justin Fields is finally showing what he’s truly capable of as a NFL quarterback. Despite losing 31-30 to the Lions, Fields had another game for the ages. The former Ohio State standout threw two touchdowns and he also ran for two more scores. This was Fields second week in a row rushing for over 145 yards. He is now sixth in the league in rushing yards (749) and tied for fifth for total touchdowns (18).

2. Game of the year candidate just went down in Buffalo

Pure chaos. That’s what this game was. I can’t believe Josh Allen fumbled that snap at the goal line. I picked the Vikings to win, and I am obviously a Patriots fan, so I was delighted to see the Bills lose their second straight. I can’t believe Kirk Cousins and the Vikings are 8-1. It’s absolutely mind-boggling. Also, shout out Justin Jefferson for one of the best catches I’ve ever seen in my life. They’ve got a pretty tough schedule to close out the year, but we might be seeing a whole lot more plane videos.

3. Saquon Barkley leads the NFL in rushing yards

I was saying this for years.

“Just let him get healthy.”

“Healthy Saquon is the best running back in the league.”

And look now, Saquon Barkley leads the league in rushing yards with 931. This was Barkley’s fourth 100+ yard game of the season and his third game with over +145 yards. He is the catalyst of this Giants offense and when Brian Daboll needs him, he shows up. The Giants will face off with Detroit next week at home followed by a visit to Dallas. The New York Giants are 7-2. What a world we’re living in.

4. Jeff Saturday???

The Indianapolis Colts fired Frank Reich after five years at the helm. Jim Irsay hired a former player of his by the name Jeff Saturday. Saturday had never even coached at the collegiate or professional level before AND the Colts had nobody on the staff who had ever called offense plays in the NFL. They go to Las Vegas and somehow pull it off. Beating the Raiders 25-20 in Matt Ryan’s first start since October 23rd. Jeff Saturday, welcome to the NFL.

5. Taylor. Heinicke.

Obviously, these wins that the Commanders have been getting are not SOLELY because of Taylor Heinicke. He’s a damn big part of it though. The Commanders have won three of their last four with Heinicke at the helm with their only loss coming to the Vikings by three points (20-17). I don’t even know how he does it. It’s not he’s putting up mind-boggling stats, he just gets it done. From Old Dominion University to starting a playoff game against Tom Brady. Taylor Heinicke is just a fighter.

A couple honorable mentions this week are Kadarius Toney getting his first NFL touchdown, Aaron Rodgers ending his losing streak against the Cowboys and Colt McCoy leading the Cardinals to victory over the Rams. It’s now time for the World Cup. This is YSN, until next time, signing out.
