Songs I’m Listening To (02/26/2022)

It’s been a while, but here I am. Ladies and gentlemen we have officially hit one whole year on the “songs I’m listening to” series. Something that I started one night at 2 a.m. in my apartment has made it a whole 365 days. Well, 368 days if we’re being technical. A lot of music has been released since my first article and I haven’t even done in article in over two weeks. Anyways, let’s cut to the chase.

Review: At Chris Brown's concert in Tampa, a reflection on his place in cancel culture

1. Chris Brown – Natural Disaster/Aura 2. Chris Brown – Dear God

As many of you know, “Indigo” is one of my 10 favorite albums of all time. It is currently my most ever listened to album with over 2,639 minutes played.

“God would please take a second and hear me out”

No matter what this project is always finding itself in my rotation, and for good reason. Chris Brown’s career has spanned a long time but for me personally, this is his best work. So many hidden gems on this album, and the songs that I listed are two of them.

3. Scribz Riley – I Lied (Part 1)

Big shout out to Power to putting me on to this song right here. If you aren’t watching Power then you need to catch the hell up. Scribz Riley is someone that you definitely need to be looking out for right now in the music game.

“There’s just something about the truth that don’t feel right. At least this way I know I sleep at night.”

4. Fresco Trey – Need You

Fresco Trey is one of the artists that I discovered in 2021. He is a breathe of fresh air to listen to. His talent is palpable with each song or snippet he releases. And “Need You” isn’t any different for the Memphis, Tennessee artist. He has a massive presence on TikTok with over 478K followers and 6.9 million likes on his videos. Can’t wait for the rest of the world to find out how good of an artist he really is.

“Beat the odds and give ’em all something to talk about”

RTB MB - Intro (Official Music Video) - YouTube

5. RTB MB – Gorgeous

The best rapper to ever play in the NBA and that’s a fact. This man Miles Bridges rap like he’s trying to get out of the league. Future All-Star and he’s certified a spot in my playlist forever now.

“I hit this ***, then I locked her out, I’m David Stern now”

Lil Durk - AHHH HA (Official Music Video) - YouTube

6. Lil Durk – AHHH HA

9.4 million views in three days. Durk’s new album “7220” is set to be released on March 11th, a week after King Von’s first posthumous project “What It Means To Be King“. The world will be watching and I can’t wait.

“They really don’t mean it, he say it in songs”

NLE Choppa Releases 'Me vs. Me' Project f/ Young Thug, Polo G, and More | Complex

7. NLE Choppa – Shotta Flow 6

From the original “Shotta Flow” in 2019 to now, NLE Choppa’s career has taken off. And the “finale” of the Shotta Flow series was just as energetic and wild as the first one was. This is the formula that made Choppa originally succeed and he showed his fans that he didn’t lose the ability that brought him here in the first place.

“Said I was done, I’m back at it again”

Relationship Advice From Future You Never Knew You Needed - XXL

8. Future – Might as Well 9. Future – Feds Did a Sweep

The five year anniversary to Future’s “FUTURE” album was actually only nine days ago. And these two songs are my favorite from the project. And clearly, this man hasn’t shown any sign of slowing down. Expect a new album to come soon.

“I took off just like a Rocket. Olajuwon, Hakeem”

From The Bayou - Album by YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Birdman | Spotify

10. YoungBoy Never Broke Again – Young Stunna

The YouTube king. Don’t know why he decided to do a collaboration project with Birdman, but the songs where he was solo were incredible. Including this one right here.

“Go to Paris of France see my name everywhere like I’m born in this b****, like somebody didn’t spam”

This concludes the one year edition of “songs I’m listening to”. We’re back and better than ever. This is YSN, until next time, signing out.
