2021 NFL Mock Draft

2021 NFL Mock Draft

One of my favorite times of the year is now here. NFL draft season is fast approaching and I couldn’t be more excited. After the fiasco of the offseason and free agency teams are ready to invest millions in 20-something year-olds to contribute to their franchise. The draft itself has a lot riding on circumstance. For example only three quarterbacks selected in the first round since 2010 have won a Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes, Carson Wentz, & Blaine Gabbert. Only one of those players actually played in the Super Bowl they won. The team that a player is drafted to can impact their whole career path. The draft creates unlimited “what if” scenarios that are talked about for years and years. April 29th will be the date for the first round while the next two days will broadcast the remaining rounds. However, this draft process will go far past those three days. As the un-drafted players wait for an opportunity and the drafted players wait to prove their doubters wrong the football world will be watching. Let’s go.

Round 1

Trevor Lawrence posts farewell message thanking Clemson as he gets ready to enter NFL draft | Bolavip US

1. Jacksonville Jaguars – Trevor Lawerence, QB, Clemson

This one is almost a guaranteed lock, or at least it should be. Lawerence is coming off a college career where he only lost two games in three years, and there’s a reason for that. The Jaguars have an obvious need at quarterback after trying both Nick Foles with that awful contract and Minshew Mania saga, so Lawerence is the obvious pick. New coach Urban Meyer will hope to reach success in his first ever NFL head coaching job as the Jags look to set a new standard in the locker room. After going 1-15, the only real way is up for this young team. Trevor Lawerence is the answer for this team. You want to know why? 90 TDs and only 17 INTs in three years at Clemson. Enough said.

BYU Football: Zach Wilson feeling a sense of urgency this season | KUTV

2. New York Jets – Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

The Jets are also entering a new era themselves. After Adam Gase’s legendary introductory press conference, I had a feeling things weren’t going to go great. The offense has added some quality pieces in wideout Corey Davis and running back Tevin Coleman and new head coach Robert Saleh has brought a new energy and hope into the organization. Saleh’s connections and reputation across the league has been on display this offseason and even has one of the all-time great corners in Richard Sherman wanting to come play for him. While I think both Justin Fields and Trey Lance will be better in the long run, Wilson could possibly work out incredibly for a franchise who just traded away their last first-round quarterback in Sam Darnold.

Fan Opinion – Walter Reyes

With the 2nd pick I would like Zach Wilson hopefully he can be the QB we’ve been looking for for years and then 23rd pick is a tough one. We have so many needs it could be OL,CB,or even RB but I think the priority should be protecting Zach and then next year we can address the skill positions with our 2 first and 2 seconds so I would go Teven Jenkins/ Vera Tucker or whoever is best available there

Few Games, but Very Little FOMO, in College Football's Less Glamorous Tier - The New York Times

3. San Fransisco 49ers (via MIA) – Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State

Many people are thinking Mac Jones here at #3 but I think Lance is definitely the right pick for the Niners. Kyle Shannan being the QB guru that he is, has the perfect situation for Lance to adjust to the NFL. Lance is the definition of a project quarterback. He only played for one year at North Dakota State, which is FCS, but in that year he threw for 28 TDs and rushed for 14 more while throwing 0 INTs. None. Which at any level is incredibly impressive. With his frame and athleticism I can see Lance being successful in the league, it’s just going to be when he steps on the field.

Mortensen: Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones “Infatuated” with Kyle Pitts ✭

4. Atlanta Falcons – Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

A lot of people were (and still are) heavy on quarterback for the Falcons but I think that Florida tight end Kyle Pitts is the right choice here for Atlanta. He will fill the void that Austin Hooper left when he left for the Browns last offseason and he’ll take some of the pressure of wideouts Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones. And if you don’t think he’s gonna go to Atlanta just look at the stadium in the background of the picture above. Expect to see Pitts in the black and red this fall.

Bengals Mock Draft 3.0: A first-round trade and the haul it might bring | WKRC

5. Cincinnati Bengals – Penei Sewell, OL, Oregon

One of the most athletic offensive lineman I’ve ever seen. When you watch tape on Sewell you instantly become impressed by both his speed and strength. I mean the man only allowed one sack in two seasons. However, the most important attribute that a lineman must have in the NFL is great footwork. And Sewell definitely displays that as he has the quickness to keep up with the faster edge rushers. After watching poor Joe Burrow get beaten on every Sunday, the Bengals need to invest in some beef up front. Allowing the fifth most sacks in the league is not good for your young quarterbacks development. Sewell will step in and immediately have an impact in Zac Taylor’s offense.

EYE ON THE TITLE: Ja'Marr Chase's parents are excited to watch son, Tigers play in CFP Semifinal

6. Miami Dolphins (via PHI) – Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

The former Fred Biletnikoff Award winner opted out of his 2020 collegiate season to solely focus on training for the draft. Chase won that award while fellow wideouts Justin Jefferson & Terrance Marshall Jr. were on the team. And unless you’ve been living under a rock in the football world, you’d know how good Justin Jefferson is. In his last year with the Tigers Chase recorded 84 catches for 1780 yards and 20 touchdowns. In only 14 games. 14. Chase would be joining a Dolphins receiving corps with DeVante Parker, newly acquired Will Fuller V, & Preston Williams. Not to mention star tight end Mike Gesicki alongside those weapons. This pick isn’t a lock, Chase could honestly go anywhere, but for me Chase is the clear cut #1 wideout in this years draft.

2021 NFL Draft Prospects: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

7. Detroit Lions – Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

Jaylen Waddle is one of the most elusive wideouts I’ve seen in a long time not named Tyreek Hill. Waddle’s ability to reach top speed and maintain it until the end of his run is incredible to watch. Before injuring his ankle this year, Waddle was on a tear in the SEC. Every game he played in he had at least 120+ yards and 5+ catches. After losing Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones in free agency this offseason, the Lions have to go wideout in one of the first two rounds. New coach Dan Campbell is going to have his hands full this season with the Lions rebuild, I just hope Waddle’s career doesn’t suffer because of it.

NFL mock draft: Ranking the top offensive linemen | The TwinSpires Edge

8. Carolina Panthers – Rashawn Slater, OL, Northwestern

As much as I just praised Sewell three picks ago, I wouldn’t be surprised if Slater goes before him. However, I think the safe pick for Cincy is just to snag Sewell at five, while the 6’4″ 315 lbs Slater falls to Carolina. Slater would lineup alongside fellow tackle, and recently franchise-tagged, Taylor Moton to protect the quarterback. The question is, who will the quarterback be? With Matt Rhule at the helm, I still believe in Carolina’s future and am excited to see how they do with a more competitive NFC South this year.

Doubts about Justin Fields' upside continue to pile up | KOMO

9. Denver Broncos – Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

Four quarterbacks in the top 10 is a wild thing to say. Usually. However, this years class has proven to be a very deep and skilled one where after Lawerence and *maybe* Wilson, the rest are interchangeable. In my heart as a Patriots fan I really want Fields to fall down to pick #15, but I know that his skill set should not let him fall out of the top 10. Imagine Justin Fields with Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, K.J. Hamler, Tim Patrick, & Noah Fant to throw to. I like Drew Lock as a person but I just don’t have faith in him to be the answer for the Broncos. Now this pick is also not a lock because who knows if John Elway makes that phone call to the war room and asks for Mac Jones. Like I said, this QB class is very interchangeable.

Cornerback again features multiple first-round talents and excellent depth

10. Dallas Cowboys – Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama

The first defensive back goes off the board. And he goes to a team that most definitely needs him. After losing starting corners Byron Jones & Chidobe Awuzie the past two offseason’s, the Cowboys secondary needs some rejuvenating. Surtain is the most polished corner in this years class, starting every year at Alabama under Nick Saban. He’ll have some big shoes to fill in the secondary but I think he’ll be up to the task.

Star Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons opts out of season | WJAC

11. New York Giants – Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

Parsons is a top-5 caliber player, but character concerns have dropped him to outside the top 10. Parsons is an incredible athlete and can be a star in this league. I think being under Joe Judge will be a perfect place for Parsons to achieve his potential. He’s arriving to an already established defense who went out and even added some more pieces like Adoree’ Jackson and Danny Shelton. He didn’t have 191 tackles in only two years for no reason. Parsons can play, it’s just up to him to showcase that skill on Sundays.

Heisman Trophy 2020 Odds: DeVonta Smith Emerges as Huge Favorite over Mac Jones | Bleacher Report | Latest News, Videos and Highlights

12. Philadelphia Eagles (via SF) – DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

The 2020 Heisman Trophy winner is off the board and heading to Lincoln Financial Field. Smith was the first wideout to win the award since Desmond Howard did it for Michigan in 1991. After missing big on Justin Jefferson in last year’s draft, Eagles GM Howie Roseman finally nuts up and drafts the guy Eagles fans have been begging for. The amount of edits of DeVonta Smith in an Eagles jersey I’ve seen in the past two months is ridiculous. Smith’s main concern is his durability with this weight, only weighing 166 lbs, but I don’t think it’ll be a big problem. I saw the way Smith made teams look stupid and lost out on the field trying to guard him. I’d still bet money that Smith will be a success in the league. He’s too gifted to not have an impact on the field. It just depends on who’s throwing him the ball, as new coach Nick Sirianni has declined to name Jalen Hurts the starter.

PFF Draft on Twitter: "Only power five OTs with 85+ run and pass blocking grades: 🔸 Samuel Cosmi, Texas 🔸 Christian Darrisaw, VA Tech… "

13. Los Angeles Chargers – Christian Darrisaw, OL, Virginia Tech

When your quarterback wins Rookie of the Year, you have no choice but to protect him. I’m almost tempted to go Tevin Jenkins here, but I still like Darrisaw for the Chargers. Learning under a veteran like Bryan Bulaga will be crucial to Darrisaw’s development and I could see him being a staple for that Chargers O-line for years to come.

No. 9 Miami rallies behind D'Eriq King, defense to be beat Virginia Tech

14. Minnesota Vikings – Jaelan Phillips, EDGE, Miami

We all know Mike Zimmer is a defense guy. And when you’re a defensive coach in the NFL and your defense finishes 29th in total defense, you need to attack it in the offseason. Phillips is a late riser in a lot of mocks just due to his crazy size and speed, as he ran a 4.56 40-yard dash. After spending his first two years at UCLA, Phillips had a breakout year for Miami recording 8 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss. This was in large part due to the absence of fellow draft prospect Gregory Rousseau, who opted-out of the 2020 season. Phillips would be joining a line consisting of Danielle Hunter, Michael Pierce, Dalvin Tomlinson, & Stephen Weatherly. All veterans who would be able to help him quickly adjust to the NFL. Not a bad situation at all for a rookie.

Joe Horn's Son Jaycee Opts out of South Carolina's Season to Prep for NFL Draft | Bleacher Report | Latest News, Videos and Highlights

15. New England Patriots – Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

The son of four-time Pro Bowler wideout Joe Horn, Jaycee Horn has made a name for himself in the SEC the past three years. His frame of 6’1″ 205 lbs is great for the league and he has the speed (4.39) to keep up with the leagues best. He also has that ability to come up and stuff a running back at the line of scrimmage with no fear. Something that not a lot of corners these days have. Horn would join fellow Gamecock alumni Stephon Gilmore in the Patriots secondary. After losing both Jason McCourty and Patrick Chung this offseason, the secondary definitely needs to be addressed in the draft. IF we don’t trade down like we always do, I see us taking Horn if he’s available when we’re up.

Tulsa LB Zaven Collins wins Nagurski Trophy | KTUL

16. Arizona Cardinals – Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa

Coming out of high school Collins had only one Division 1 scholarship, coming from Tulsa. He would go on to win the Bronco Nagurski award for college football’s best defensive player. He beat out names like Micah Parsons and Patrick Surtain II. Collins recorded 4 sacks, 2 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions for the Golden Hurricane. Collins would pair up with the Cardinals first-round pick from last year Isaiah Simmons and would also be a replacement for the loss of Haason Reddick to the Carolina Panthers.

Bears draft target: What you need to know about Oklahoma State's Teven Jenkins

17. Las Vegas Raiders – Teven Jenkins, OL, Oklahoma State

This is a make or break year for a lot of people in the Raiders organization. After one of the worst collapses I’ve seen against Miami last year that cost them a playoff spot, the Raiders had to take a long look in the mirror and re-evaluate. After trading away three starting offensive lineman in the offseason this year Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden will need to immediately address it in the draft. Jenkins is a whopping 6’6″ who weighs in at 320 lbs. And while he is that big, he ran an impressive 4.9 40-yard dash.

Draft Profiles Videos | NFL.com

18. Miami Dolphins – Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU

After addressing getting second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa another weapon in Ja’Marr Chase at pick #6, the Dolphins go out and get some defensive help in Trevon Moehrig from TCU. Brian Flores is a defensive guy and Moehrig would fit right into the team that has had a void since they traded star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Steelers in 2019. Moehrig is great in coverage and can fly to the ball to make a tackle. He’ll definitely have an impact on Sundays.

Notre Dame Rover Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah In ESPN Analyst Todd McShay's Initial Top 32 NFL Draft Prospects For 2021

19. Washington Football Team – Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame

After losing linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis in free agency this offseason, Owusu-Koramoah can jump into an already established Washington defense and make a huge impact. His ability to find the football is excellent and has the speed and strength to keep up with the tight ends and running backs in coverage. He’ll fit right in to a defense that was #2 in pass defense and #4 in total defense.

Fan Opinion – Sithon Hul

I want Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah because he’s the missing piece to our defense and he can cover wideouts plus Ereck Flowers and Curtis Samuel locked in our other missing pieces.

Alabama football quarterback situation favors experienced Mac Jones

20. Chicago Bears – Mac Jones, QB, Alabama

The reigning national champion Alabama has a reputation for a lot of players going in the first round. However, no Alabama quarterback (yet) has proven themselves in the NFL. Mac Jones will be the next quarterback in line to attempt to have a successful professional career as a quarterback from Alabama. And I think that Chicago is the spot for him. With a quarterback room of both Nick Foles and Andy Dalton, Jones would be able to sit and learn behind two Pro-Bowlers while not having as much pressure to perform as a young rookie. If Matt Nagy is the “quarterback guru” that his reputation claims he is, then he should be able to help Mac Jones to get there. It didn’t work with Mitch Trubisky but this can be his redemption and saver for his job.

Virginia Tech CB Caleb Farley opts out of 2020 season

21. Indianapolis Colts – Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech

After Farley’s medical concerns have become an issue as of late due to a back injury from weightlifting. The tape still shows that Farley was an elite corner when healthy. He has great size for an NFL corner standing at 6’2″ and weighing in at almost 200 lbs. The only concern is his durability after his back issues and an ACL tear in 2017. I still think that Farley can be successful and putting him in this young and underrated Indianapolis defense will set him up for greatness.

Ideal team-prospect fits for the 2021 NFL Draft:

22. Tennessee Titans – Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota

After opting out of the 2020 season, Rashod Bateman slowly crept up the draft boards. Bateman is one of my favorite prospects in this draft due to his productivity on the field and his overlooked ability to create separation. In Bateman’s two full seasons for the Golden Gophers he caught 111 passes for 1923 yards and 17 touchdowns. Bateman would be a solid replacement for former Titans wideout Corey Davis, who left this past free agency to become apart of the New York Jets. Bateman alongside star wideout A.J. Brown and the powerful force known as Derrick Henry would be a perfect fit.

Alabama's Najee Harris hurdles over a Notre Dame defender after Megan Rapinoe tells him to

23. New York Jets (via SEA) – Najee Harris, RB, Alabama

After the Le’Veon Bell experiment ultimately came to an end this past year, the Jets are in need of a RB1. Harris is an incredible back with size (6’2″ 230 lbs) and blazing speed (4.45 40-yard dash). In his last two years as Alabama’s feature back Harris has amassed over 2690 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. Harris was a consensus All-American and the Doak Walker award winner last year (nations best running back). Coming out of high school Harris was the #1 recruit and clearly has lived up to those expectations. I expect Harris to be a feature RB1 in the NFL.

O/NSO: Five intense spring position battles edition – WeAreSC

24. Pittsburgh Steelers – Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC

After losing both Maurkice Pouncey and Alejandro Villanueva this past offseason, the Steelers are going to have to protect their asset known as Ben Roethlisberger. Many people want the Steelers to go Etienne or Najee Harris with this pick but I think you need to get bigger and better up front first. Running back can be addressed later in this draft and maybe even after the draft, just look at James Robinson for the Jaguars. An undrafted free agent from Illinois State who ran for over 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns last year. The Steelers just need to move on from the disaster that was last year and start *kind of* fresh.

Touchdown Alabama on Twitter: "Alex Leatherwood returns to anchor the Tide's offensive line. 💪… "

25. Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR) – Alex Leatherwood, OL, Alabama

When you draft your million dollar man in Trevor Lawerence, you need to protect him. Alex Leatherwood came from a great offensive line at Alabama where he won two national championships, the Outland Trophy (for nation’s best lineman), and was an unanimous All-American. Leatherwood would be an instant starter and for me is just the ideal pick for Urban Meyer and the Jaguars.

Atlanta Falcons: 3 prospects worth trading back into the first round to take

26. Cleveland Browns – Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern

Newsome is a heavily underrated prospect for me and to pair him alongside young players in the secondary like Denzel Ward, Greedy Williams, & Grant Delpit. After winning coach of the year, I have full faith in Kevin Stefanski and this Browns organization to go out and build a championship winning team. Especially GM Andrew Berry who has incredibly brought in players like Jadeveon Clowney, John Johnson III, & Troy Hill. He’s a gifted player who’s great in the air going up for pass breakups (16 in the past two years). He’d be a great addition to this already talented defense.

Michigan Wolverines Football: Kwity Paye Still Weighing His Decision

27. Baltimore Ravens – Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan

Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Kwity Paye is a strong pass-rusher with great size (6’4″ 272 lbs). After losing Matthew Judon to the Patriots and Yannick Ngakoue to the Raiders, Paye would be a perfect replacement. He has insane speed for someone his size with a 4.52 40-yard dash, and has proven to be a force in the running game getting 12.5 tackles for loss his junior year. Paye would join veterans Calais Campbell and Pernell McPhee who’d be able to take him under their wing.

Fantasy Football: Rookie winners and losers from college pro days | Fantasy Football News, Rankings and Projections | PFF

28. New Orleans Saints – Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss

New Orleans is going through a lot of change right now with their main centerpiece in Drew Brees retiring. Along with that, the Saints are thin out wide with both Jared Cook and Emmanuel Sanders leaving in free agency. Moore is a speedy receiver who’d take a lot of pressure off of both Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas. Moore is coming off a career year where he caught 86 passes for 1,193 yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. Moore was also a consensus All-American last year alongside Heisman trophy winner DeVonta Smith. With his agility and ability to break the big play, watch out for Moore to go crazy in the league.

Florida falls to LSU 37-34, at home

29. Green Bay Packers – Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida

After the very miseducated decision to go and trade up for Jordan Love even though they still had one of the greatest of all time, the Packers have to go skill position on offense here. And Kadarious Toney is a great pick for the cheeseheads. Toney broke out last year with the high powered Gators offense alongside Kyle Trask and Kyle Pitts, going for 984 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. Alongside Davante Adams, Allan Lazard, and Marques Valdes-Scantling Toney can slide right in and be a great fit.

Bengals 2020 Draft Analysis 4.0 - Offensive Tackle: Early round pick possible | WKRC

30. Buffalo Bills – Eric Stokes, CB, Georgia

Eric Stokes is another name that has mostly flown under the radar during this draft process. Stokes had a breakout year for the Bulldogs last year with 20 tackles and 4 interceptions in only 9 games. While he may not have had the interceptions in his first two years, he stayed consistent with nine pass deflections in his first two years at Georgia. What really made Stokes stand out in recent weeks was his insane 40-yard dash time at 4.25 seconds. Surrounded by Tre White, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, and Josh Norman, Stokes would be surrounded by experienced and quality veterans to help him develop. In my opinion, this is a perfect spot for Stokes to land.

File:Terrace Marshall Jr. LSUvsNWLA 958A (49105030003).jpg - Wikipedia

31. Baltimore Ravens – Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU

One of my top 5 favorite prospects in this whole draft. Behind Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase the past two years at LSU, Terrace Marshall was always getting his share of work in. 23 touchdowns over 19 games doesn’t just happen for anyone. With Marshall being selected by the Ravens it would open up a whole new game for that offense with former MVP Lamar Jackson. Over the course of his last two years as a starter, Lamar hasn’t had a #1 deep threat receiver that can go win the jump ball. Terrace Marshall can 100% be that guy. He’s 6’3″ 200 lbs and runs a 4.38 40-yard dash. This can be revolutionary for the Ravens offense. Hopefully he’ll be even available at pick #31 for them.

Defensive End Jayson Oweh Declares For NFL Draft - Black Shoe Diaries

32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jayson Oweh, EDGE, Penn State

6’5″ 257 lbs. 4.36 40-yard dash. That is all that needs to be said. Jayson Oweh is an extremely raw talent who needs to be coach certainly, but his potential is almost limitless. You give Oweh the right surrounding with arguably the best defensive coordinator in the league in Todd Bowles and two pro-bowl pass rushers in Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul. This right here is a definite lock for me, and you see why it’s the perfect fit. Being around those vets and players with playoff and Super Bowl experience, it’ll give him the motivation to reach that next level.
