Thank God for Music

Thank God for Music

The day is May 13th, we’ve been in quarantine for two months now. It is getting to that point where I’ve lost all motivation for everything. HOWEVER, there are a few things keeping my mental in good spirits. One of them is the recent abundance of music that we’ve been getting. Let’s go over what to expect during this quarantined summer.

1. Future Is Dropping an Album

Future is back. After dropping, “The Wizrd” and “Save Me” in 2019, Future is back with his first project of 2020. The release date for, “High Off Life” is set for May 15th and the features are looking crazy.

Y’all ready for new #Future?

Besides the previously released singles from tracks 17-21, Future is bringing on some big names to the album. Youngboy Never Broke Again, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and Young Thug are also featured. There’s few rappers that can tweet out a date and the whole internet goes crazy. That’s the type of power Future has. This album is looking to go platinum within a month and be #1 first week.

2. Polo G is dropping his sophomore album

The 21 year-old rapper from Chicago is getting ready to drop his second studio album titled, “The GOAT” this Friday. After his last album, “Die A Legend” peak at #6 on the Billboard charts and went Gold (selling 500,000 copies) Polo G is expected to make an even bigger splash with this record. The album includes features from Juice Wrld, Mustard (formerly DJ Mustard), Lil Baby, Stunna 4 Vegas, NLE Choppa, & BJ The Chicago Kid. He’s going to have to compete against Future, but his fanbase is big enough to get him at least 50,000 sales first week in my opinion.

3. Gunna is dropping next week

After, “Drip Or Drown 2” dropped in February 2019, the people have been waiting on new Gunna. He’s been popping up on features with artists such as Chris Brown, Young Thug, and Roddy Ricch. However, it’s his time to shine with his upcoming album, “Wunna” dropping May 22nd. Gunna has been teasing this album for a while, posting multiple snippets to keep his fans on the edge of their seat for the release. As of today, May 13th, the track list has not been released but we should expect it next week. Unless a mega artist such as Kendrick or J Cole decides to drop next week, I think Gunna can grab his first #1 album.

4. New Drake Album Confirmed For Summer

After selling 226,000 copies on a mixtape of throwaways and leaks, Drake has announced that his sixth studio album is on the way this summer. The Toronto icon has been on a rampage throughout his whole career, becoming arguably the biggest artist in the world. With rumors circulating around the internet about who’s going to be featured on the album, Drake himself has confirmed the album is finished and ready to be released. He has two songs in the top 10 currently with, “Toosie Slide” and “Pain 1993” and every song off of, “Dark Lane Demo Tapes” charted in the Billboard Top 100. And if this track makes the album, I am ready to see what the rest will hold.

With all these artists announcing their projects I have a strong feeling that Kendrick is just going to wake up one day and just post a picture of an album cover saying he’s dropping. Either him or Cole would be the type of people to do that. Even though artists can’t currently tour I think that it’s a great time to drop albums because people are just sitting at home. For example, I was bored so I downloaded Kehlani’s new album, “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t” and was thoroughly impressed. She is even rumored to be fighting for the #1 spot in this week’s Billboard charts. It’s time for artists to capitalize on the quarantine and either drop their music or lock in to the studio. Any who, I just hope this quarantine ends soon. Do yourself a favor and please do not listen to any Lil Pump. Goodbye.
