Roddy Ricch’s Quick Rise To Stardom

Roddy Ricch’s Quick Rise To Stardom

I first heard about Roddy Rich when Meek put him on his instagram story around May 2018.

At this point Roddy was fresh off of releasing his first official mixtape, “Feed Tha Streets” in November of 2017. He was hanging around West Coast legend Nipsey Hussle and then linked up with Meek as he was expected to become a new artist on Meeks label, Dreamchasers Records. Now these snippets came out in May 2018, but Roddy and Meek haven’t dropped that first snippet and the second snippet is a song called, “Nascar” off of “Feed Tha Streets Vol. 2”. Vol. 2 dropped in November of 2018 and was the official lift-off of Roddy’s career. The mixtape had two platinum records in, “Every Season” and “Die Young” both hit songs. It debuted at #67 on the Billboard charts, a great start for the Compton rapper. He then went on a series of tours and was featured on songs with Marshmello, DJ Mustard, and also Meek Mill. The late Juice WRLD brought him out at Coachella, Post Malone brought him on his Europe tour, and he was in the studio with Kendrick Lamar. He let his presence be known in the music industry when he was selected by XXL to the Freshmen Class of 2019 and when he became a Grammy nominated artist for his songs, “Racks In The Middle” and “Ballin”. Roddy just recently released his debut studio album titled, “Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial” on December 6th, 2019. Unlike his previous mixtape, Roddy brought in some of his rap friends for the project. Meek Mill, Gunna, Lil Durk, Ty Dolla $ign, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie were all featured. The album took off with hit songs like, “The Box” and “Big Stepper, becoming the #1 album in the country. The album sold 101K units first week, beating out Camilla Cabello and The Who for the crown. With the #1 album in the country, three Grammy nominations, and three platinum records at only 21 years old, Roddy Ricch has solidified himself as a rap star.

Legendary video with Meek & Nipsey right here. Definitely out of the shadows now.
