The Unexpected (But Still Kind Of Expected) Album Of The Year Candidate

The Unexpected (But Still Kind Of Expected) Album Of The Year Candidate

Do you guys just take a step back sometimes and realize that Chris Brown has been making incredible music since 2005. He has been a superstar since I was five years old. I’m 20 now. It’s really crazy to even think about how he’s even been able to still sell out all his tours and still go #1 on his albums fourteen years later.

In an industry full of one-hit wonders, he has managed to consistently perform at such a high level. He also owns all of his master recordings, which means any money that he earns off of his music streams goes directly to him. Anyway, let’s talk about his most recent album, Indigo. Indigo was released on June 28th, 2019 and was 32 tracks long. Drake, Tory Lanez, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Justin Bieber, and Tyga are just some of the big names that were featured on the project. His last album, “Heartbreak On A Full Moon” was released on October 31, 2017, so the fans were ready to hear some new music after almost two years. The date is now July 16th, and the album has constantly been on repeat for me. Brown’s versatility and incredible vocal range is once again on display. Here are my top 15 songs from the album.

1. No Guidance ft. Drake

2. Emerald/Burgundy ft. Juvenile & Juicy J

3. Natural Disaster/Aura

4. Red

5. Indigo

6. Part Of The Plan

7. Dear God

8. Sexy ft. Trey Songz

9. Lurkin’ ft. Tory Lanez

10. Back To Love

11. Take A Risk

12. All I Want ft. Tyga

13. Heat ft. Gunna

14. You Like That

15. BP/No Judgement

Rating: 8.8/10

As of July 16th, 2019, these are my song rankings for Chris Brown’s ninth studio album, Indigo. In my opinion, he has joined Future (Future Hndrxx Presents: The Wizrd), Offset (Father Of 4), Tyler, The Creator (IGOR), and Juice WRLD (Deathrace For Love) in competition for album of the year so far. Who are your album of the year candidates? Let me know in the comments.
