Surprise! In addition to my yearly “album of the year” article, I will now start doing my top 50 songs of the year starting now. A lot like last year, we were all going through new adjustments of life post-lockdown but the music kept coming. It was a truly incredible year for music, which is what made it that much harder for me to rank both my favorite songs and albums of the year. A lot of songs and albums just narrowly missed the cut. And I guarantee that I am going to be forgetting some songs that I listened to this year on this list. However, I do think that the songs that are supposed to be on here definitely made the cut. One last thing before I reveal my list. For both the favorite album and songs of the year articles, remember this is MY list. I understand that you may think I missed some stuff but this is strictly based off what I listened to this year and what songs I gravitated to. Alrighty then. I couldn’t figure out a way to make it that 50 would be at the top so here is a very anti-climactic top 50 songs list. What a year it has been. A lot of songs just missed the cut. For example “Throw It Away” by Summer Walker, “Straightenin” by Migos, “a m a r i” by J. Cole and “Time Today” by Moneybagg Yo were cut at the very last second. However, I’m very happy with this list and hope to hear back from all of you guys reading. I can’t wait to give you all my favorite albums of the year article.
